Free Flowing: A Modern and Stylish Private Residential Apartment

Creating Harmony and Fluidity in Urban Living

Amidst the hustle and bustle of the city, urban residents need a peaceful and quiet space to rejuvenate their minds and retreat from the stresses of everyday life. Benji Li, a renowned designer, has created a stunning private residential apartment in Hong Kong that aims to provide just that. With a focus on free-flowing spaces and a harmonious blend of materials, this design offers a modern, luxurious, and stylish sanctuary.

The design concept behind this private residential apartment is to generate a sequence of free-flowing spaces that create a sense of space, depth, and fluidity. By utilizing different materials, textures, finishings, and layering techniques, Benji Li has successfully crafted a small hideout that exudes elegance and sophistication.

One of the standout features of this apartment is the open concept dining room. A characteristic white marble wall, adorned with bookmatching fine greyish slanted veins, creates a welcoming atmosphere. The glossy white dining wall is juxtaposed with simplistic and stylish Italian black multi-light pendants, adding a touch of modernity to the space.

The design of the ceiling is inspired by the textures of White Fine Vein Staturio Marble. These lines gently percolate and fill the entire dining and living area, creating a sense of grandeur. The intertwining of thick and thin lines, along with the play of light and shadow, adds a hint of geometrical effect to the room.

Continuing the theme of harmony and unity, the glossy White Fine Vein Staturio Marble wall extends from the dining area to the living area. To create contrast and visual interest, a Crocodile Black marble feature wall with an antiqued finish is used in the living area. This combination of rough and polished, light and shadow, and dark and light adds personality and character to the space.

The apartment also features coherent closet designs throughout. Full-length closets finished with rough and sturdy textured wood bring a touch of nature into the interior. The addition of black stainless steel alongside these closets adds a unique finishing touch, enhancing the overall aesthetic and functionality of the space.

Despite its small size, this apartment is expertly designed to provide distinct spaces without compromising the sense of oneness. The layout allows for easy access to all areas, creating a smooth flow that eliminates the need to sidestep around furniture and doors. The use of both sides cabinets, replacing wall partitions, and applying the same materials as the walls and doors, creates an illusion of a larger space and enhances the overall coherence of the design.

Benji Li's design for this private residential apartment was completed in 2018 in Hong Kong. The meticulous attention to detail, the thoughtful use of materials, and the seamless integration of different elements make this design truly exceptional.

This project has been recognized for its excellence and innovation. It was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in 2020 in the category of Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design. This prestigious award is given to well-designed, practical, and innovative creations that meet professional and industrial requirements. It is a testament to the quality and impact of Benji Li's work.

With its emphasis on free-flowing spaces, harmonious design elements, and luxurious aesthetics, this private residential apartment by Benji Li is a testament to the power of thoughtful and innovative design. It offers urban residents a tranquil haven where they can escape the chaos of city life and find solace in a space that is both stylish and serene.
